A Tale of Two Drones: two very different experiences this evening. Plainfield, New Hampshire 9/12/26

The first flight is depicted in the video. This was my daily dose of FPV practice. It’s a 1-minute wild ride. The second flight produced the still images below of tonight’s spectacular sunset. These two flights were about 1/2 hour apart and shot with very different aircraft.

Thanks to a timely heads-up, I was able to capture this activity in progress. Very cool!

Plainfield Spirit Day 2026! Plainfield, New Hampshire 8/29/26

Since 2011 we’ve been sharing this end-of-summer event with our friends and neighbors here in town. It’s a wonderful event, capped off with fireworks. Unfortunately the aircraft I needed for filming the fireworks wound up in a tree (yep, all my fault), so no footage of that. Still, this was about people and I tried to get most of them.

FYI, the DJ shown here is my son Paul Daugherty. He’s quite the mix master!

Two-fer Wednesday: This morning’s impressive Glory Rings and this afternoon’s delightful FPV flight at Mascoma Lakeside Park. Plainfield and Enfield, New Hampshire 8/26/26

Glory rings are created by looking down on water vapor with a strong light source behind the camera. The drone is too small to create a true “Brocken Spectre”, but still an impressive sight.

The FPV flight was just a fly-around at the boat moorings, but still a fun way to spend three minutes. The sky and the water were lovely.

Fourth of July Parade! Plainfield, New Hampshire 7/4/26

What an incredible turnout! I’m very grateful to everyone that worked so hard to make this year’s parade (and all the associated events) so very special. Here are quite a few aerial photos and one 15-minute video that show our greatest resource: our townspeople! Also, thanks to everyone that stopped by for a few kind words. It’s always a joy to hear in-person what my work means to people. It is truly humbling.
