Just when you think there’s nothing to see… Plainfield, New Hampshire 10/7/25
The rain was bearing down from the northwest (first image) but I noticed a golden light coming from the south, so I had to risk a flight. I’m glad I did!

Cresting the hill on RT 12 south just above Plainfield village is one of my favorite views of MT Ascutney.
The second to last photo in this set might be my favorite one you’ve ever published here! When I see Mt. Ascutney like this, I always think of the Lonely Mountain in Middle Earth.
Thanks Jim. I like that shot also. It’s a medium telephoto image that compresses the foreground and the mountain which had that vivid golden light around it at that moment.

Clyde it is indeed a magical spot!

Thanks Ryan. It pleases to think of Dwarves beneath it. FYI, I’m pretty certain that shot will be in this year’s Fall Calendar!
That big one on the bottom is nice enough to compete as one of the nicest views of NH. Beautiful
