This afternoon, the smoke layer was clearly visible, making for some strange images. The smoke, the small but dense clouds, and that stubborn sun created quite the spectacle I think.

It is not good to breathe. It has a chemical smell to it and not pleasant. Harmful for those with respiratory issues. It does not smell just of wood burning. Hopefully folks will take precautions.
Diane I developed a sore throat from the acrid smoke. Wildfires never smell nice, but I’ve only had it bother my throat a couples of times in my entire life. As you say, this should be taken seriously by anyone spending time outdoors, or those with respiratory problems. It seems to have gotten a little better with the brief rains.
